Moira Metcalfe is a well established artist living and working in the Yorkshire Dales.

Her work explores landscapes of constantly changing moods and climates with an enormity of light and movement.  Drawing out hidden colours, then utilising them to emphasise the contours stressed by lines of walls and punctuated by barns and trees along the way she produces unique and personal responses to the influences of her surroundings.

Her work has been exhibited in the Dales and London and is in collections worldwide.

Artbar Gallery is situated 1 mile out of Hawes in Wensleydale and is open to the public most days from April to Oct (anyone making a special visit should ring first).

Moira's work has evolved over the years to the point she now finds herself at. She is strongly influenced by colour, seeking out the hidden depths of colours and expanding them to create images that are both vibrant and challenging . Her current abstract work, is influenced by the details of the local waterways. Moira explores the rapid flow, interupted by exclamations of turbulance, expressed fluently in her own unique handwriting.
